Check-ups with your dentist are really important in preventing future problems.
A check-up allows your dentist to see if you have any dental problems and helps you maintain a healthy mouth. We believe in dealing with dental problems early or if possible preventing them all together.
At your check-up your dentist will perform a number of routine checks to ensure you have a healthy mouth:
You will be asked about your general health and any problems you’ve had with your teeth, mouth or gums
A thorough examination of your teeth, mouth and gums
Advice can be given on how to best clean your teeth and also on other things like diet and the effects of smoking on your mouth and teeth
A date will be agreed with you for your next appointment
If any problems are found, your dentist will explain these and discuss the treatment he recommends
Regular check-ups are an important part of maintaining good oral health. During a check-up, our dentists will examine your whole mouth, inside and outside (even your jaw joint) and will screen for mouth cancer. In some cases, where appropriate, a scale and polish may be carried out. Instruments, tests, clinical expertise and X-rays are used to help detect cavities and other tooth and jaw problems.
Your dental hygienist
Hygienists aren’t just there to give you a scale and polish. They also apply preventative care to the teeth and gums and offer advice on your diet and your oral hygiene routine. They also carry out detailed and precise treatments on prescription from your dentist to help patients suffering from gum disease.
Regular visits to the hygienist are recommended to ensure good oral health is maintained and that treatments are successful, with a long life.
