Orthodontic Therapist NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing 2015 Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy RCSEd 2018 | GDC Reg No. 259833
After I completed my degree, I wanted to try something different. I started my career as a trainee dental nurse in 2014 with Oasis Dental care. I qualified a year later in 2015. Over the next few years, I had experience working in both busy general dentistry and also with the Specialist Orthodontist. I was really intrigued with the biology and methods of moving teeth around, the patient experience, and seeing their smile transformation.
I knew I wanted to pursue my career down the path of Orthodontics.
When Bupa took over the company, they allowed me to follow my passion and in 2017 I began training at UCLan to become an Orthodontic Therapist. It was scary but I enjoyed becoming a clinician and treating patients myself.
After a year of intense training both at University and in practice with mentor guidance, I qualified in 2018 with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh with the Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy.
I am only at the start of my therapist career, but I am looking forward to doing extra courses to further develop my knowledge in this field and undertake extra procedures.
