  • Dr Richard Needham

    Specialist Orthodontist BDS, MFDS, MJDF, MSc (Pros), MSc (Ortho), MOrth, GDC No. 113590

    Dr Richard Needham qualified as a dentist in 2007 from the University of Manchester. Since then, he has worked in a variety of hospital and practice based posts gaining broad training in all aspects of dentistry. In 2009 he gained membership to both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of England – dental faculties.

    He completed an MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics prior to entering a three-year specialist training program in Orthodontics. Richard completed this training in 2013 and is on the General Dental Council’s Orthodontic specialist list. In addition to his work in the practice he also works at Manchester Dental Hospital where he is involved in supervision and training on the University Orthodontic MSc course. With an intense eye for detail, his work is carried out to the highest standards and with absolute professionalism.

  • Stephen Davies

    Specialist Restorative Dentist BDS MDSc DGDP (UK) GDC No. 45530

    Stephen Davies qualified in 1971 at Manchester University. He set up the High Lane practice in 1974. He was awarded his MDSc in 1994 for his thesis: “An investigation into the pattern of splint wear in the management of temporomandibular disorders” and was awarded the Alan Hilton Memorial Medal for Research from the Manchester Medical Society for this work.

    In total Stephen has published over 50 scientific journals; he was co-author of “Temporomandibular Disorders: A clinical approach” BDJ Publications 1995 and principal author of “A Clinical Guide to Occlusion” BDJ Publications 2002.

    He is a past Director of the North West Division of Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. In 1986, he joined the Temporomandibular Disorder clinic at the Manchester Dental School having previously studied Temporomandibular Disorder and Occlusion in the UK and USA. He has been the Lead Clinician of this clinic, since January 2001.

    He also teaches at Manchester University and for the FGDP at the Royal College of Surgeons, London. He has for many years accepted referrals for patients with temporomandibular or occlusal difficulty. Stephen is registered with the General Dental Council as a ‘Specialist in Restorative Dentistry’. This deals with the restoration of diseased, injured, or abnormal teeth to normal function. This includes all aspects of root canal treatment, gums and bone support, crowns and bridges, and the restoration of implants. 

  • Helen Chapman

    Dentist BChD MSGDP (UK) GDC No. 73257

    Helen qualified in 1997 from Leeds University. She did her vocational training year in Stockport and joined High Lane Dental Practice in 2001 as an associate. During her time at High Lane she also became a vocational trainer for newly qualified dentists.

    In 2002 she gained her Diploma in General Dental Practice (MFGDP). Helen has attended postgraduate courses on mini implants and oral surgery. She also spent twelve months teaching undergraduate students at Manchester Dental Hospital in oral surgery and restorative dentistry.

    Helen has a qualification in conscious sedation and is able to provide intravenous sedation for anxious patients.She has recently embarked on an MSc course in advanced restorative dentistry.
    Helen enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has a special interest in oral surgery.

  • Alaa Al-Saeed

    Dentist BDS GDC No. 104388

    Alaa qualified in 1997 from Badghdad University, and practised for two years there. He prepared for the international qualifying exam as set by the General Dental Council; he was successful in this rigorous examination in 2006. At the request of the post-graduate Dental Dean in the North West, he started to work at High Lane Dental Practice in 2006 in order to work towards his clinical competencies with Mr Stephen Davies as his tutor. This is equivalent to the post qualification practice based training that every UK qualified dentist has to undertake.

    He has since enrolled in a restorative dentistry course run by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at the Royal College of Surgeons (ENG). He enjoys and practices all aspects of general dentistry, with a particular interest in endodontics. Alaa is looking forward to raising his young family in the UK and enjoys reading, cooking and travelling.

  • Danielle Smyth

    Dentist GDC - 251466 -- BDS 2014

    Since qualifying from Kings College London in 2014 I joined High Lane Dental Specialist Centre in 2015 as a full time NHS dentist. I have found that I am able to learn and develop my skills from the very experience colleagues I have around me.

    I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family.

  • Nihad Vaid

    Endodontist GDC - 113414 -- BDS (Manchester) 2007 MFDS PgDip Endo (UCLan Preston - 2011)

    Nihad qualified in Manchester in 2007. After completing his MsC in Endodontics (Root Fillings), he now accepts referrals from our clinicians in house and externally for complex endodontic procedures. He is also currently studying towards MsC in restorative dentistry.

  • Ahmed Tahboub

    Dentist BDS (University Of Manchester) MFDS RCSP (Glasgow)

    Ahmed graduated from the University Of Manchester and completed his foundation training in Yorkshire. He then went onto working at Manchester Dental hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary in various departments including restorative dentistry, oral surgery and Maxillofacial surgery. During this time Ahmed worked alongside many consultants treating patients with complex dental problems and was also involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.

    He successfully completed the examination for the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons – Glasgow. He is currently completing his final year of a 3 year part time masters in Restorative dentistry. His interests include partial and complete dentures, root canal treatment and treatment of worn teeth.

    In his free time Ahmed enjoys cycling, football and spending time with his young family.

    I joined High Lane Dental over 4 years as a Dental Hygienist and have very much enjoyed working with the patients at the practice to improve, stabilize and maintain their oral hygiene.

  • Noelia Cooper

    Dental Therapist GDC No: 177245

    Noelia qualified in 2099 from Sheffield University School of Clinical dentistry as a Dental Therapist. Noelia spent a few years working with nervous adults and children.

    Noelia joined High Lane Dental and Referral Centre in 2013 and is committed to giving her patients the best treatment possible and helping patients reach their goals. In Noelia’s spare time she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family.

    Oral Health Educator GDC - 126684

    I have worked at High Lane Dental Specialist Centre for over 4 years as a Receptionist, Dental Nurse and Oral Health Educator. In my role as an Oral Health Educator I provide advice free of charge on smoking cessation, oral hygiene, tooth brushing techniques, interdental cleaning, motivating younger people in their oral hygiene routine and assisting elderly patients with cleaning instruments. I very much enjoy this role assisting as patients with their oral hygiene routine and working alongside the dentists and hygienist.
