My job is to educate all ages and show how best to maintain their dentition; recommending implements and giving advice on treating and the prevention of gum disease and tooth decay. I have a passion for dental health education and have worked voluntarily visiting school, nurseries and also brownie and scouts to educate and motivate.

  • Jenny Dudley Ford

Hygienist GDC - 5935 -- CEB Dip Dent Hygiene 1997

My career started in 1989. I started out as a dental assistant working in a practice in Wiltshire where I grew up. During this period I gained my qualification as a dental nurse as well as a health educator. I was also Head nurse and an anaesthetic nurse for an oral surgeon.

Having worked up the ladder for 11 years in these roles, I was eager and encouraged to train further as a dental hygienist. So, in 2001, I gained my hygiene qualification at University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff and I have never looked back – “I love my job!”

My first hygienist role was working in The Falkland Islands, which was a fantastic opportunity and experience as a newly qualified hygienist. I have since worked in several practices over the last 15 years, including a dental practice in Guernsey. I moved from Wiltshire to Cumbria in 2007 and started working for Oasis Dental Care 6 years ago and I am very happy here.

I take my role as a dental hygienist very seriously and respect and care for all of our patients I have treated over the years. Preventative care and oral health education are key, so I feel privileged to be delivering such an important aspect to patients’ oral health and well-being as well as being part of such a professional dental team.
