• James Graham

    Dentist BDS (Birm 1988) | GDC reg no. 63806

    James qualified in 1988 at Birmingham University and since 1990, practicing dentistry at the surgery, Bupa Dental Care Sutton Coldfield, While Road. 

    In 1997 James took over the practice with his wife Martine.  James had developed an interest in orthodontics in 1986 as an undergraduate and went onto take a postgraduate course in orthodontics in 1999. James progressed to Invisalign aesthetic orthodontics for adult patients in 2010 and qualified with Six Month Smiles in 2012 which allows James to take on more complex orthodontic cases in an aesthetic capacity.

    James is a keen cyclist and runner competing in events across the country and fun runs.  He enjoys food and can often be found whipping up culinary delights.  An enthusiastic bookworm and normally devours a few novels at any one time.  James enjoys spending time with his family and when time allows, France is a regular destination.

  • Martine Graham

    Dentist BDS (Birmingham 1988) | GDC reg no. 63826

    Martine qualified in 1988 at Birmingham University and after her training in restoration and dental implants, joined her husband at the practice in 1997.  In 2003 Martine developed a passion for facial aesthetics and was able to provide this as a service in the practice.  Martine delivers training courses for fellow health care professionals in wrinkle reducing injections and filler treatments.

    Outside of work Martine is a sports enthusiast and enjoys running, cycling and swimming and enters triathlon events across the country.  Martine is a keen baker and dab hand at rustling up cupcakes.  She enjoys spending time with her family and travelling to France on holiday.

  • Joe Henderson

    Dentist BDS (Birmingham 1988) ITI Foundation in Implant Dentistry (2010) | GDC reg no. 63808

    Joe qualified in 1988 at Birmingham University and arriving at the practice became a joint partner in 1998.

    Joe studied with the International Team for Implantology (ITI) in the restoration and maintenance of dental implants – qualifying in February 2008.

    Joe is a keen cyclist exploring some of the areas of beautiful countryside. He also has a huge love of rugby and cricket and is a frequent visitor to Twickenham and Edgebaston.


  • Catherine Cameron

    Hygienist Diploma in Dental Hygiene (Birmingham 2004) | GDC reg no. 6479

    Cat qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 2004 from Birmingham Dental Hospital and has been working with us since 2005 and is extremely popular with her regular patients due to a very gentle but thorough approach to their oral health care and treatment. Previous to this she gained her postgraduate experience with Boots Dental Care and was originally a qualified dental nurse.

    She is a mum to Myanna and William so most of her free time is filled with trying to keep them entertained managing to find time to catch up with her friends though.

    Cat and her family enjoy getting outside in their caravan and their often as often as they can. She is currently trying to master wake boarding.

  • Maxine Clarke

    Hygienist Certificate of proficiency in Dental Hygiene (Birmingham 1983) | GDC reg no. 2642

    Maxine’s dental career spans almost 40 years, having trained as a Dental Nurse at Birmingham Dental Hospital and qualified with a certificate of proficiency in Dental Hygiene in 1983.

    Her experience ranges with periodontal, hygienist and general practice having worked within both NHS and the private sectors.

    Maxine continues training, attending courses and expanding her knowledge and is a member of the British Dental Hygiene and Therapy Association and Dental Protection Society.  She gains enormous pleasure from helping patents improve their oral health, with a gentle approach.

    Outside of work she enjoys walking, camping, spending precious time with her family and particularly enjoys holidaying in Florida.

  • Nichola Jordan

    Dental Hygienist Diploma in Dental Hygiene & Dental Therapy (Sheffield ) 2011 | GDC reg no. 211984

    As a Hygiene Therapist Nichola is responsible for the treatment and maintenance of periodontal (gum) disease, as well as providing fillings for adults and children. She is passionate about gum health and educating her patients on how to improve and maintain dental health. She thrives on building good relationships with patients and has good empathy with anyone who is nervous about receiving treatment.

    Outside of work Nichola has a young family so all of her interest are centred around keeping them all happy, healthy and entertained.  Alongside this she enjoys socialising with friends and holidays whenever possible

  • Tareq Ahmed

    Dental Hygienist Diploma in Dental Hygiene & Dental Therapy (Sheffield 2017) | GDC reg no. 268236

    Tareq joined the practice in 2017 shortly after finishing his studies at the University of Sheffield’s Dental School. As a proficient and passionate Dental Therapist, Tareq helps patients to achieve and maintain good oral health by carrying out all aspects of hygiene treatment. In addition to this, Tareqs extended knowledge and skills in restorative dentistry allow him to undertake a wide variety of treatment. For example Tareq is able to to restore a decayed tooth and can replace existing fillings to improve the aesthetic and functionality by using a range of dental materials. As a recent graduate, Tareq is always seeking opportunities to further develop his skills. He does this by attending courses regularly. Tareq has a specific interest in the latest advancements in cosmetic dentistry and managing dentally anxious patients.

    Away from dentistry Tareq has a keen interest in art, design and luxury cars.

Dental Nurses

  • Gemma Clark

    Lead Dental Nurse NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing (2005) | GDC reg no. 156993

    Gemma joined the practice in 2006 as a newly qualified nurse and is now our lead dental nurse responsible for the smooth efficient running of our surgeries and nursing team. As well as being a qualified dental nurse she has also obtained additional qualifications in Dental Radiography and Oral Health Promotion and is part of the team that helps deliver educational tooth brushing sessions to our younger patients.

    Outside of work Gemma enjoys spending time with her husband Gary and son Max as well as socialising with friends.

  • Samantha Sumner

    Dental Nurse NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (2004) Certificate in Dental Radiography (2005) | GDC reg no. 134883

    Sam joined the practice in 2016 as a Dental Nurse and recently has begun training and development as a treatment coordinator. Her role as Treatment Coordinator involves meeting with patients who are attending for the very first time for an initial consultation, discussing any dental concerns they may have as well being able to spend all important time discussing the various treatment options and procedures we have to offer.

    Sam gained her Dental Radiography qualification in 2005 from Matthew Bolton College and aims to develop her skills further by training to take dental impressions and clinical photography.

    Sam is married to Daniel and has two children Joshua and Millie and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

  • Sharmain Johnson

    Dental Nurse NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (2009) | GDC reg no. 189625

    Sharmain joined in December 2007 as a trainee dental nurse and qualified in 2009.  Since then has undertaken a number of roles including dental nurse and has experience as a treatment coordinator and more recently one of our patient care advisors or receptionists.


    Within her varied roles, Sharmain always puts patients welfare above all else. She enjoys the variety her role brings to her working life and would like to undertake clinical photography to further her skills.

    Outside of work Sharmain is most definitely a shopaholic even if its only window shopping and spending quality time with her partner and son.

  • Beth Peever

    Dental Nurse NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (2014) | GDC reg no. 263178

    Beth joined us in 2016 as a dental nurse and feels inspired to develop herself and her career over the next few years by undertaking additional qualifications.

    She enjoys going out for cocktails on the weekend with friends as well as going to the gym. She loves her two Lhasa Apso dogs called Poppy and Daisy.

  • Kirby Barrett

    Dental Nurse NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (2013) Level 4 Certificate in Dental radiography (2016) | GDC reg no. 247782

    Kirby joined the team in September 2016 as a qualified Dental Nurse who has also obtained additional qualifications in Dental Radiography and impression taking. She would describe herself as a lovely, lively, happy member of the team especially when she has been fed!!

    She enjoys socialising in cocktail bars, eating out but also loves the gym.

  • Lesley Sutherland

    Lesley joined us in October 2016 as a qualified Dental Nurse, bringing with her over 35 years of knowledge and experience in all aspects of the dental industry.

    Lesley enjoys family life with her husband Tommy and two daughters Lauren and Jess. Walking the dog and booking holidays – her favorite destination is Cape Verde. She reluctantly attends the gym!

  • Rachel Hughes

    Rachel joined the practice in February 2005 and has held a variety of differing roles during this time. As a Treatment Coordinator her day to day role involves meeting with new patients and hosting their initial consultations prior to meeting one of our experienced dentists. Discussing any dental concerns our patients may have as well being able to spend all important time discussing the various treatment options and procedures we have to offer.

    Rachel works on an individual basis with many of our patients as an oral health educator helping to improve the brushing habits of our younger patients and supporting those patients to improve their general oral health.

    She works closely with our dentists to support them with their individual special interests in tooth straightening and dental implants.

    As the practice coordinator Rachel supports our practice manger Sarah in all aspects of the business and oversees the clinical compliance ensuring we are fulfilling the regulations set out by the Care Quality Commission.  Sarah also had additional skills in advanced impression taking and fluoride application.

  • Sarah Bryan

    Sarah joined the While Road team in February 2018 having previously been the Practice Manager at Bupa Dental Stafford since 2007. As well as being an experienced manager she is also a qualified dental nurse and dental radiographer.

    Sarah is responsible for creating and maintaining our patient experience and managing our highly trained team of dentists, hygienists, therapists, nurses and of course the reception team.

    She is the first point of contact for any customer service queries or complaints and oversees the smooth running of all the practice finances, marketing, health and safety and ensures we are fully compliant with all Care Quality Commission regulations.
